Year in Review: 2015 Beauty Favorites

The end of 2015 is just two days away, so before we close the chapter on yet another year of our lives, I’m going to share with you some of my favorite beauty products from 2015. Some of these are products that I’ve never mentioned before while others might be some I just can’t shut up about (the love is strong there folks).  So strap in and get ready for some year end beauty love.

Hair Beauty Faves

My hair went through a BIG change this year so naturally my hair care routine has been in constant motion. In my non-blonde days my favorite shampoo was always the Herbal Essences Wild Naturals Illuminating Shampoo followed by the Alterna Caviar Anti-Aging Replenishing Moisture Conditioner, this combo made hair shine like a diamond and as soft and smooth as silk. For new blonde look, I’m all about the DryBar Blonde Ale Shampoo and Dessange Paris California Blonde Brass Color Correcting Crème to keep my platinum locks nice and bright. To maintain softness I go alternate between my go-to deep conditioner: Alterna Science of TEN Perfect Blend Masque and Suave Professionals Moroccan Infusion Shine Conditioner to keep my locks as soft as possible.

For styling I usually keep it simple: a little mousse for body (DryBar Southern Belle Volumizing Mousse), a few spritzes of blow dry spray for smoothness and shine (Suave Luxe Style Infusion Weightless Blow Dry Spray) and to protect my fragile hair from excess damage I apply a good heat protectant spray (Redken Hot Sets 22 Thermal Mist)However, if I’m really lazy I’ll just towel dry and spray on a good sea salt spray (Original & Mineral’s Surf Bomb Spray).

2015 Makeup Favorites

Being a beauty blogger, you’d think my makeup routine is crazy but really unless I have a special event to go-to, my everyday makeup is pretty simple. I start off a good primer to keep everything in place (COVERGIRL Outlast All Day Primer), then depending on the time of year I either go with a more full coverage foundation (Too Faced Born This Way) or a light to medium coverage option (Maybelline FitMe Dewy + Smooth). Since I’m pretty pale I add colour to my complexion with a light dusting of bronzer (NARS Laguna) and blush (NARS Orgasm, it really is a lovely shade for all skintones).  I hardly wear eyeshadow, but I always tightline my eyes in black eyeliner (COVERGIRL Ink It Perfect Point or Maybelline Eye Studio Master Drama Cream Pencil). I finish my eyes with a good, strong black mascara (Too Faced Better Than Sex) and defined brows (Maybelline Define and Fill). I finish my whole look with either a red (NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella) or wine (Maybelline Lip Studio Color Blur in Plum Please) lip colour.

2015 Skin Care Faves

A good skin care routine is how I both start and end my day but each routine is uniquely different. In the mornings I use a nice gentle exfoliating face wash (Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit Foaming Scrub) then I use a cleansing water to remove any residue (Simple Micellar Cleansing Water), this is then followed by a good light moisturizer (Simple Ultra-Light Gel Moisturizer).  In the evening I start by removing my eye makeup (Almay Longwear Eye Makeup Remover Pads) followed by good old fashioned cold cream to remove the rest of my makeup (PONDS Cold Cream), I then use facial wipes to get rid of any residue or lingering makeup (Simple Micellar Makeup Remover Wipes). I finish off my evening routine with a good overnight moisturizer (philosophy Renewed Hope in a Jar).
