Welcome Back to Hogwarts

What better way to start a new term at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry than with taking a trip to see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

To celebrate all the young witches and wizards heading back to Hogwarts, I was invited to attend a showing of Cursed Child at the Lyric Theater here in NYC. Now full disclosure, I saw this play last year (see my video review here) BUT just like with the Harry Potter films, multiple viewings make the story even more magical.

"Here's your ticket. Stick to your ticket Harry" ~ Hagrid

Before the show and during intermission we were able to head down to a private lounge where we sipped on both Slytherin and Golden Snitch Mimosas, light tapas, and some sweet treats.

After the show we headed to Times Square, sorted by house of course, for a surprise that I had no idea what to expect. At 10:45 pm, a Time Turner countdown appeared and the familiar sounds of John Williams mixed with Imogen Heap filled Times Square plaza as we all watched the billboards will with Harry Potter and the Cursed Child imagery.

I'm not gonna lie, I didn't full realize what was going on till I looked back at photos I took of the shows marquee last fall (Nov. 2018) and realized that the official Harry Potter logo is now taking up real estate on 43rd street, along with the use of the Wizarding World logo and J.K. Rowlings name.

Now there are a lot of theories floating around about what this all means but I'm not gonna dip my toe into that great lake of opinions.

Now if you've never seen Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, here are some things you must know. First off, its in two parts, which means you'll either being seeing both parts in one day or over the course of two days (which is what I did both times). Second, either skip mascara or wear waterproof, you're going to cry (and if you don't well then you're a Death Eater, sorry I don't make the rules). Third, sadly Butterbeer is not available but I'm hoping that is an oversight that will soon be fixed.

Naturally I had a magical time. I love all things Harry Potter and I'm always looking for ways to bring Hogwarts and the Wizarding World into my daily life. You can learn about about Harry Potter and the Cursed Child online at HarryPotterthePlay.com
