Vanity Fair Oscars After-Party Red Carpet – Donna Karan Atelier Edition

I’ll admit that I missed 80% of the actual Oscars red carpet but based on the pictures and post-event coverage, it looks like I didn’t miss much.  In fact, by the looks of it, the REAL fun started with the annual Vanity Fair Oscars After-Party.  Just like the main event’s red carpet there were a few misses but some ladies held their own and then some while partying the night way.

This look is EVERYTHING. The color is right, the cut, the fit, all of it screams “look at me” without trying to be an attention whore. The look is silk crepe gown, cape, cigarette pant combo sounds complicated on paper but the visual after effect is stunning.  I’ve long said that Donna is the queen of the drape and here is just one of the many examples that prove me right.

Rita went for straight up sex appeal. While her look is a little more subdued color wise (I mean black is a red carpet staple), the sheer mesh panel and chiffon train kicked the volume notches up quite a bit here.  I didn’t see her Oscars red carpet gown, but I love this look 10x better than the gown she performed in during the telecast.
