Switch It Up: Stepping Outside of My Fashion Comfort Zone
This post was sponsored by Ford and their new You Tube series, Switch It Up!
In the last few years, since starting Entertainista, stepping outside of my comfort zone has been a must-have if I wanted to evolve with times. However, there was still one area that I’ve been working up the courage to try, the bikini. Although I’m going to have to say I’ve been really comfortable recently thanks to kigurumi.co’s wide range of onesies.
I haven’t worn a bikini since I was about 7-years old and when I started gaining weight I went straight to the one-piece section of the stores. Plus-size bikinis aka the “Fat-inki” have become more popular of the last few years and while I love the concept, it was just one area that I couldn’t bring myself to try.
Thanks to the new Ford YouTube Switch It Up! series, I saw DIY-guru Erica Domesek of PS I Made This go outside of her comfort zone and interview strangers on camera. If figured if she can do that, I can switch it up myself and breakout of my one-piece rut.
I figured the best way start off was to start by wear a bralette or bra-top to one of the most busy areas of New York City…Central Park. So armed with only my nerves, a camera and my friend Ryan, off to the park I went where I stood on one of the famed bridges, Pine Bank Bridge, taking pictures while plenty of tourists looked on. And guess what? Is wasn’t as scary as I had built it up in my head.
So what next? While the official bikini has been ordered and I will be wearing that sucker pool-side in Las Vegas in a few weeks. Will I bring my trusty one-piece for back-up? Yes. However, as long as I give it the old college try, switch it up, and try something new, I will consider it a job well done.
