Rebecca Minkoff Fall 2014
Yes, the show was star studded. Yes, there was awesome live music. But first, let’s talk about the collection.
Rebecca Minkoff’s Fall 2014 collection has a lighter feel, with a significant lack of fur, compared to a host of other runways this season. Instead Minkoff is favoring wool, leather, silk and… lamé.
Minkoff’s collection was inspired by menswear and refined to the female shape. She combines contrasting weights of separates to create the nonchalant ease and clean lines of menswear — despite sometimes being a full length lamé dress in gold. Minkoff’s fall palette includes soft grey, petal pink, noble green, navy and tobacco. I also think it’s important to note that where Minkoff did use fur, it was faux.
Some notable accessories were quilted leather fanny packs; square blue-green, studded, long-strapped leather bags; grey knit touques and vibrant fluffy hats.
A signature of every Rebecca Minkoff runway show are the celebrities and Minkoff’s unique choice of live music. This year AlunaGeorge, an electronic music duo from London, hit up the stage with electronic beats and Aluna Francis’ powerful vocals.
Our front row celebs were Oscar nominated actress Anna Kendrick, Canadian darling Coco Rocha and country belle Carrie Underwood.
