To sum up this episodes “Best Laid Plans”, Snow and Charming continue to keep secrets from Emma and then toss Henry into the mix, almost burn the Author page, and finally come to grips that they aren’t really heroes. Turns out that S&C didn’t just cause Maleficent to loose her child, the took the egg-baby from her and old man magic (aka Sorcerer’s Apprentice) transferred unborn Emma’s potential darkness to Mal’s baby and sent it (along with Ursula and Cruella, who got swept in the spell) into ALWM (a land without magic). So ya, Snow you’re not a hero.
Naturally Snow finally has a stroke of conscience and along with Charming tell Emma the truth. Naturally she does not react well and channeling her season 1-2 self, takes off. Granted she doesn’t go far, Hook finds her at the harbor, but still she is back to running.
Elsewhere, Henry found the key that would release the author and after the worlds most boring cat and mouse game, the key and page wind up with Emma. August cautions her that the author was trapped in the book by old man magic for a reason, and releasing him could have consequences.
Quotable and Memorable’s:
“and how is the wooden man-child” – Hook having a jealous moment over her friendship with August
Snow: “I’m your mother”. Emma (both teenage and adult): “I don’t care”.
August’s quip about Walt being one of the recorders when talking about past authors “and a man named Walt”, referring to Walt Disney.
Raise your hand if you’re shocked that Emma’s OG BFF Lily is Mal’s egg-child (PS, I’m not)
Who else is ready to welcome back Zelena and Robin Hood? The show needs a little shaking up.
