No Matter the Generation, We Love Mickey #HappyBirthdayMickey

In recognition of Mickey’s birthday, I’m sharing with you all a picture of my amazing mom and me in our Mickey shirts. (My mom and I have this uncanny ability to buy coordinating, sometimes straight-up matching, items and showing up wearing them.)

Mickey has the ability to connect generations. Disney is magic – we all know it. Always has been and always will be. But not every Disney fan is a fan of all things Disney – crazy, but true. Some older generations know the true classics of Disney (Pinocchio, Bambi, 101 Dalmations), but they aren’t familiar with the newer movies. And some of the younger Disney fans are all about Moana and Frozen, but they don’t yet know about those movies that started it all.

But Mickey. Mickey is different. Everyone knows Mickey Mouse. Everyone has their own favorite Mickey item, their favorite Mickey look, their favorite Mickey movie. My first Mickey Mouse movie was Fantasia, but for my kids, it’s Mickey’s Twice Upon a Christmas.

The true magic of Walt Disney and his creation of Mickey Mouse is that Mickey connects generations. A grandpa and his granddaughter can bond over their mutual love and adoration of Mickey. Mickey is instantly recognized and can connect us, no matter our differences – we all love the Mouse.
