Live Blog: 2015 Tony Awards

6:30pm: Press Room is starting to fill up as we get setup while watching the first ever live stream of the Tony Awards red carpet.

7:34pm Pre-Telecast awards are currently being presented.  Tommy Tune received the Lifetime Achievement Tony Award and Hedwig and the Angry Inch creator John Cameron Mitchell is the recipient of a Special Tony Award.

8:11pm The cast of Something Rotten take over the Tony Awards opening to explain the origins of musicals.

8:13pm Tony Award for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in Play goes to Helen Mirren for “The Audience”

8:20pm Tony Award for Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Play goes to Richard McCabe for “The Audience”

8:25pm This The King and I performance is making me flashback to 1997 when my High School’s drama department did this musical. The song “Getting to Know You” is still annoying to me.

8:30pm Tony Award for Best Book goes to Lisa Kron for the musical Fun Home.

8:36pm Tony Award for Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Musical goes to Christian Borle for “Something Rotten”. This marks Christian’s second Tony Award win.

8:40pm Tony Award for Tony Award for Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Play goes to Annaleigh Ashford for “You Can’t Take it With You.

8:50pm Dame Helen Mirren in the Tony’s Press Room stating that her after “The Audience” wraps, that will be the last time she will portray Her Majesty the Queen.

9:15pm Creator of Hedwig and the Angry Inch John Cameron Mitchell in the Tony Awards press room to discuss what is next Hedwig.

9:28pm The Tony Award for Featured Actress in a Musical goes to Ruthie Ann Miles for “The King and I”.

9:45pm Tony Award for Best Play goes to The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime.

10:12pm Tony Winner for “The King and I” Ruthie Ann Miles answering questions in the press room.

10:15pm The Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical goes to The King and I.

10:28pm The Tony Award for Best Leading Actor in a Play goes to Alex Sharp for “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time”.

10:42pm The Tony Award for Best Leading Actor in a Musical goes to Michael Cerveris for “Fun Home”.

10:45pm The Tony Award for Best Leading Actress in a Musical goes Kelli O’Hara for “The King and I”.
