Life is the Bubbles
Updated: Jul 27, 2019
As the great Sebastian once said, Life is the bubbles. Now granted he was trying to convince Ariel to stay under the sea, but I still love that saying.

So why am I bringing up Sebastian and his wise words? While because my friends, I’m about to share something with you all and I needed a happy, positive mantra to do it.
I’d like you all to meet Diablo, my trusty cane.

I’ve been using a cane to walk since 2016 but I’ve kept it hidden from my online life. When you see pictures of me online what you don’t see is that my cane is just off screen, outta sight but not outta mind.

The world has made great strides in the last two years when it comes to showing ones disabilities. What really gave me the push I needed to share this was Selma Blair. When she showed up to the Vanity Fair Oscar Party rocking her cane as if it was just another accessory, it was brilliant. I figured if she can do it, what the hell is my excuse.
I suffer from chronic patellofemoral malalignment and have since I was 13yrs old. Years of physical therapy, four knee surgeries, and rounds of non-evasive treatments later have left me with limited mobility. My walking and standing time is about 10-15 minutes at a time. The cane is needed for balance as my knees tend to lock at the most random of times.
Also, this is why if you’ve seen me in the parks, I’m always rolling around in an ECV

What happens now?
My disability and limitations, along with society, have always told me that I am “less than”. That being different was bad and to hide my flaws and scars. Well, I’m done hiding my little friend Diablo. He is a constant in my life and deserves to be seen. I’m also gonna be more upfront with how I’m feeling. Just like with any chronic pain, there are good and bad days.
Feel free to ask me questions, I’ll do my best to answer them.

So as Sebastian says “We got no troubles, Life is the bubbles, Under the Sea”
