Indulge Your Period with The Period Shop #PeriodProjects

What if there was a magical place with a wall full of chocolate bars and cute bags, clothes and other accessories all aimed at putting a positive spin on your period. Sounds awesome right. Well it’s a very real place that you can visit in person this weekend if you happen to be in New York City and it’s called The Period Shop.

Period Projects is a the brainchild of Sarah Michelson whose dreams of having a period shop started on Tumblr and U by Kotex who made the dream a reality. “There are thousands of stores for women’s clothing, makeup and clothes, but none that are focused on periods or the period experience. So I wrote a Tumblr post calling for the creation of a Period Shop – a space where women can shop for feminine care products while feeling comfortable, safe, respected … and also have a little fun. U by Kotex read my vision and I am beyond thrilled that the brand responded with an opportunity to partner to bring it to life!”

Nicole and I had the chance to hit up The Period Shop before it opened to the public today and OMG is it awesome. You can buy everything from fancy chocolate to gym bags to a freaking awesome neon yellow sweatshirt. Only the sweatshirt features happy tampons and the gym bag says “After this we are getting pizza”. See everything in the The Period Shop is geared toward taking the negative stigma away from periods.

The Period Shop is open to the public from Friday, May 13 – Sunday, May 15 and located at 138 5th Ave. in Flatiron. If you can’t make it to NYC don’t worry swing on over to  Jet.com and HelloFlo.com where select items will be available for sale. Oh and all the proceeds, yeah they go towards a great cause as ALL proceeds from The Period Shop will be donated to Susan’s Place, a transitional residence that provides homeless women with housing support and a safe, supportive environment.
