#HappyHour – Happy Tartan Day
Happy Tartan Day to all my fellow Scots! Now let’s celebrate the only way we know how, by drinking some Scotch Whisky. Now if, like me, you need to enjoy your Scotch in a the form of a cocktail, then look no further for some yummy options.
DEWAR’S® ROB ROY
Ingredients: 3 parts DEWAR’S® 12 Blended Scotch Whisky 2 1/2 parts MARTINI & ROSSI® ROSSO vermouth 2 dashes bitters 2 dashes simple syrup 1 cherry
Combine all ingredients in a shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously and strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with a cherry.
DEWAR’S® OLD FASHIONED
The Old Fashioned recipe is at least 100-years old. Because of its relative simplicity, many a bartender will give this regal beverage his or her own twist. As the theory goes, fruit was added to the recipe during Prohibition to cover up the taste of the inferior bootleg alcohol. With a touch of Dewar’s®, of course, that is no longer an issue.
1 part DEWAR’S® 12 Blended Scotch Whisky
1 teaspoon sugar
2 dashes bitters
2 orange slices
2 maraschino cherries
Water or soda
In the bottom of a rocks glass, carefully muddle the sugar, bitters, 1 orange slice, 1 cherry and a splash of water or soda. Remove the orange rind and add DEWAR’S and ice. Garnish with the remaining orange slice and cherry.
