Get the Look: Lizzy Caplan at the 2015 Met Gala
Actress Lizzy Caplan (Masters of Sex) once again killed it on the red carpet for the 2015 The Anna Wintour Costume Center at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s annual Met Gala celebrating the new exhibition, “China: Through the Looking Glass“.
Lizzy wore a one shoulder draped blush washed satin back crepe Donna Karan Atelier gown with silk covered beaded fringe and an abstract leaf/flower threadwork embroidery. She paired the amazing gown with Nicholas Kirkwood Satin Origami Bow Pump in Nude Satin with Swarovski Crystal Detail and Edie Parker JEAN magnetic clutch in nude pearl.
To recreate Lizzy’s polished up-do I went straight to the source, hair gru Marcus Francis who said “The great thing about the Met Gala is the theme. All other red carpet events are simply formal or casual chic. With this year’s ‘Through the Looking Glass’ theme and seeing Lizzy Caplan’s asymmetrical dress, I wanted the overall look to feel young and effortless with a polished finish. Having the hair up would allow the focus to stay on the detail of the dress as well as bring the glamour to the look that is so what the Met Gala is about.”
1. On damp hair, apply Suave Professional Natural Infusion All Day Body Leave-In Foam from root to ends and comb through. Then follow with the Suave Professionals Luxe Style Infusion Volumizing Soufflé Mousse combing from roots to ends.
2. Blow dry the hair with a paddle brush aiming upward so when pulled up it has a bump free and smooth finish.
3. Pull hair into a high ponytail on the top of the head near the crown area. Secure with elastic and begin to twist the hair around to form a knot. Use large hair pins as you go to lock in the shape. It has balance but isn’t perfectly round so it too has texture and height. Lock in the updo with small pins.
4. Spray the hairline with Suave Professionals Flexible Control Finishing Hairspray to clean up flyaways and seal the look.
