FOX Announces the 2015 Fall Schedule and Finally Ends American Idol

FOX has had some issues with keeping GOOD original programming on the slate these past few years. In fact when you look at the new schedule for Fall 2015, there is one night that is comprised of all new shows, which could either pay off with great ratings or die a silent death.
GRANDFATHERED
Perhaps the biggests announcement FOX will be making this afternoon at their upfront presentation is that 15 years, the once powerful ratings juggernaut American Idol is coming to a close. The show will retain current judges Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban, and Harry Connick Jr and longtime host Ryan Seacrest when the final season debuts in 2016.
MINORITY REPORT
Returning drama and Batman-prequel Gotham will stay on Monday nights and will serve as lead-in for new drama Minority Report. Tuesday nights will see all new programming on FOX with comedies Grandfathered and The Grinder followed by the new Ryan Murphy drama Scream Queens. New drama Rosewood will kick off Wednesday night followed by the breakout hit Empire while Thursday nights will see Sleepy Hollow and Bones. Friday night’s will host Masterchef Junior and World’s Funniest. Sunday’s programming pretty much remains untouched with NFL on FOX, Animation Domination (Family Guy, The OT, Bob’s Burgers, and The Simpsons), Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and returning comedy The Last Man on Earth.
THE GRINDER
Not on the schedule and being saved midseason are Grease: Live, the return of both Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader and The X-Files, returning comedy New Girl, new pick-ups Devilish, Lucifer, The Frankenstein Code, The Guide to Surviving Life, and Bordertown.
