Festival of the Arts Cookies

Epcot’s Festival of the Arts is in its 3rd year over at Walt Disney World so naturally we used this festival as the inspiration for this month’s Disney DIY Treat.

Festival of the Arts Ballet Cookies

The festival is a celebration of the visual, culinary, and performing arts, so with all that in mind we made sugar cookies (culinary) in the shape of a ballet dancer (performing) and decorated them with edible markers (visual). This was super fun and we got the whole family involved by having everyone decorate a cookie however they wished.

To make the cookies, we used our favorite Alton Brown sugar cookie recipe. This is our go-to and we use this, and only this, recipe when making sugar cookies. Now for the frosting, if you watched our holiday sugar cookie video from Vlogmas, then you’ll know that we do not do royal icing. Instead, we found a recipe for pouring fondant that actually works pretty well.

Once the fondant is dry, grab your edible markers and decorate a way. These cookies are your canvas, so get creative!

These were a big hit with the whole family, and we are sure your family will love these as well.
