Costello Tagliapietra Fall 2014

The Costello Tagliapietra fall 2014 collection is inspired by sci-fi and fantasy heroines along with books of European fairy tales spun with vintage militaria.  The result are strong, beautiful and body conscious silhouettes.  We love the unique and rich jewel tones used, prominently featured in the beautifully tailored reverse tuxedo pant which come in peridot (green), tanzanite (blue) and claret (red) . The fall designs reflect their cited broad spectrum of inspiration with cuts, patterns and layered levels that range as much as the characters of science fiction to classic European fairy tales. There’s the low slung, loose, free-flowing “track pants” in tanzanite and the tighter draped skirt in garnet which sits high up on the waist.  Likewise the prints vary from the button down shirt with leather details in a print of garnet and tanzanite, and a striking coat in a rose and citrine print. What’s especially nice about this coat is that it has a “tromp l’oeil bolero” which makes it looks as if it were two pieces, one being a bolero.
