Beauty Chat with Olympic Hopeful Jamie Anderson

Next in our Beauty Chat series is Olympic Snowboard hopeful Jamie Anderson.  Jamie, who is a part of the fantastic P&G Thank You Mom campaign, took a few minutes out of her busy schedule as she gets ready to compete for spot on the U.S. Olympic Team to chat with me about her current beauty routine and more.

Entertainista: Tell us about your usual beauty routine both on & off the slopes? What are most of your must-have beauty items?

Jamie Anderson: Growing up, my mom always inspired me to be natural and not use a lot of makeup, so I always looked up to her and tried to keep it light. A good moisturizer for my skin is a must-have, though! I love the Olay Fresh Effects Hydrating Gel Moisturizer. I love this natural mineral powder that I got in New Zealand. It’s really pure (it’s all mineral- and plant-based), gives you a little bit of coverage and feels and looks really nice. I also love using coconut oil in my hair—it helps to keep it hydrated and stop it from breaking when I’m out on the mountain all the time. Rosemary essential oil is also great for your hair and helps with my mental clarity, too!

Ent: With the Olympics less than a month away, how are you preparing for a trip to Russia?

JA: I’m trying to take each day as it comes and not get too ahead of myself—it is definitely a lot of preparation and can be stressful, but I’m trying to stay mellow and not get too worked up. Yoga and meditation has been huge for me, and helps me to just slow down for a minute and breathe and stretch.

Ent: How do you spend your time off the slopes, what do you do to relax?

JA: I hang out with my family and friends, cook, go for walks, practice yoga or go swimming. If there is a spa at my hotel, I am always in the sauna or taking full advantage of the amenities! I also love to write and to read—I am re-reading a great book right now called “The Power of Now” by Eckhart Tolle. I’ve read it a few times, but it is always good to refresh how powerful it is to be in the present moment. With everything going on lately, it has been nice to re-read this book and remind myself not to get stuck in the past or ahead of myself in the future.

About the Thank You, Mom Program

An award-winning campaign, P&G “Thank You, Mom” pulled the heartstrings of millions during the London Games by celebrating the athletes, and also the moms that helped them along the way. As we head to Sochi, P&G continues to see the thousands of everyday acts it takes to raise a champion. As the Proud Sponsor of Moms, P&G supports and celebrates moms, athletes and youth sports around the globe. Behind every amazing athlete is an even more amazing mom and P&G is in the business of helping moms and families with the everyday effort it takes to raise a child. From providing the detergent their jerseys are washed in, the makeup they wear in competition, the tissues for the runny noses and tears of joy, to much more, P&G is with families  every step of the way. As a sponsor of the Sochi 2014 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, P&G is thanking the moms of Team USA, who give so much to make their kids’ dreams happen.
